THE GUILDHALL BANQUET
LONDON, November 11
General Sir John French, in replying r.n behalf of the Army at the Guildhall banquet, said that as chief of the Imperial General Staff he was always in the closest communication with the staffs of the oversea dominions. Ho was very glad to be able to assure them that the relations between the various parts of the Imperial army had grown closer and more cordial every vear.
The Japanese Ambassador, in replying on behalf of the diplomatic body, said that it was a source of gratification to be able to announce that the relations between Britain and Japan were never more satisfactory. It was scarcely necessary to assure Britain that Japan was determined to be ever loyal to the compact. He hoped that the alliance would continue to stand as a guarantee of peace and be the means of consolidating the mutual material interests in the Far East.
