During the hearing of a' case of alleged cruelty to animals, at the Wellington Magistrate’s Court, mention was made of the prevalence amongst horses of the diseases known as “ sidebone ” and “ringbone.’* Counsel for the defence made" the rather startling statement that 50 per cent, of the draught horses in Wellingtoa are suffering from these complaints.
