AUCKLAND EXHIBITION.

The Auckland Exhibition, which will bo opened on December 1, will be the largest tmd most complete ever held in the dominion with the exception of the International Exhibition in Christchurch some seven years ago. Very active preparations havo been going on in Auckland for many months, and tho township of white buildings, set in beautiful terraced landscape of lawns and gardens, surrounded by native trees of all kinds, has been completed for gome weeks. The promoters intend to apply any profit which may result to the improvement of the Domain, in which tho Exhibition is being hold, and one of tho attractive features of tho fair will bo the beauty of the ground, which now form one of the prettiest spots in Auckland. The Exhibition will extend over at least four, and probably five, months in tho brightest part of the year, when the subtropical flora of the city are at their best. An unusual number of fine attractions apart from the actual Exhibition have been provided. Tho most notable is tho engagement

of the Royal Artillery Band, of Woolwich, an organisation which has few, if any, equals in the musical world. It will be in Auckland for 10 weeks, during which it will play two programmes a day. A fine collection of British pictures, many of which were show in this year’s Royal and Scottish Academy Exhibitions, is being set up in a special gallery. A fairy fountain has been built. It is a gorgeous show piece, such as has never been seen in the Southern Hemisphere before, and the apparatus is the same as was .used at the Glasgow Exhibition, of which the fountain was one of the most admired features. A splendid collection of big up-to-date side shows is embodied in Wonderland, and those are set up in a large park situated so as to command some of tho finest views in Auckland. The Railway Department will issue excursion tickets to Auckland during tho period o£ tho Exhibition.
