UNORTHODOX TEACHINGS.

LONDON, October 27. A crisis has arisen in the Wesleyan Church in connection with the appointment of the Rev. George Jackson as tutor at Didsbury College. A Wesley Bible Union has been formed with a view to counteracting Mr Jack son’s doctrines. Sir William Smith (the president of the union) has issued a statement, in which ho says that the terrible teaching that the Bible is a legend or myth or fable ; s one of the main causes of the decrease in the membership of all the churches. Ho adds: “If we are to have a revival of religion, the church must get rid of such doctrines.” After the Rev. George Jackson’s appointment to the staff of (ho Didsbury College the publication of a lecture of unorthodox tendencies caused a certain unrest among the Wesleyan community. At the Wesleyan Conference in session at Plymouth, on July 21. the Rev. Mr Jackson explained his position.
