Bran and pollard. Is. OAMARU STOCK MARKET. (From Gun Own Correspondent.) OAMARU, November 1: The stock market, still remains in a semidorrnant condition, and very little business is reporod this week. At this week's sale a small number of sheep were penned, but did not elicit much competition, possible buyers being restrained by the hot wind prevailing with prospective bad effect upon feed. Some old ewes with 100 per cent, of lambs were sold at from 7s 10d to lls sd, all counted according to class and condition. Privately a few failing-mouthed ewes with lambs have been sold at 12s 6d all counted. Several linos of ewe hoggets have changed hands at from 21s to 235. There have been no transactions in cattle, which are, however, in request and fully maintain their values. SOUTHLAND STOCK MARKET. (From Our Own Corp.espondent.) INVERCARGILL, November 1. Stock.—There is no alteration of consequence in the stock market during the past week, prices continuing practically the same as at fast report. Tire demand for fat sheep and fat cattle is still very teen, and the supply hardly enough to meet the demand. It la thought, however, that the big prices ruling, especially for fat sheep, of late will lead one or two graziers to put their holdings on the market in preference to their usual practice of carrying them over the shearing. With those distributed the market should bo fairly well supplied, but even so, prices are not likely to come back to any extent. Store cattle have been moving during the week, especially good forward bullocks, well-bred, ready to come off the grass by next January. Young stuff also has firmed considerably, and a good number of this class have been bought by graziers in the back-blocks. Very little business is passing in store sheep. The lambing is over, and the percentages on all sides are really good. There is an abundance of feed, and if a spell of fine weather follows the present rain the feed is certain to bo much , better, and those who tare lucky enough to hold sheep will have good prospects. Prices for wool are encouraging, and there will be a good demand for sheep off the shears, not onlv for local requirements. but also for the northern markets. At the time of writing, however, store sheep of all classes are dearer in Southland than they are in Canterbury and the northern districts. The demand for dairy cows, hag eased considerably, but anything good and young sells readily at from £10"to £ll Prices may be quoted;—Fat cattle; Ox beef, 36s 6d to 37s 6d; heifer beef, 31s to 355; cow beef, 28s to 29a. ADDINGTON STOCK MARKET. CHRISTCHURCH, October 29. At the Addington live stock market there were rather larger yardings of stock and a good attendance, owing to the larger entry and the hot weather. There was a decline in beef of 2s per 1001 b. Fat lambs wore firmer, and store sheep, except aged ewes with lambs, sold well. There was a larger entry of fat sheep, and the market opened at easier, prices, but firmed again.
