ITALIAN ELECTIONS
MINISTRY RETURNED. ROME, October 28. The results of the first ballots show that the Ministerial lists of c’ccted members exceed half the Chamber. | The Socialists were notably successful in Milan, Turin, Bologna, Venice, Genoa, j and Naples. j Several carabineers were wounded in the riots at Naples. j j Many murders are reported from various f districts. * i Four electors were shot dead and three others were fatally stabbed. ; ; October 29. j j At the declaration of the poll at Catania bombs were thrown among the crowd, and several people were injured, one being fat- ■ ally hurt. ! Forty-one members of the Labour Exchange have been arrested. ! November 2. The most humorous feature of the elections was th© obliteration of the tower- i ing facade of the Gesu Church with colos- i sal placards, on which was the name of i Leone Caetani. It is not known how the bill-stickers reached the giddy height, and : * it .is a conundrum hovr the Jesuit fathers 1 will now succeed in removing the name ; of the famous anti-clerical champion. | Some of the bill-stickers are serving three i ! masters, and with most engaging cynicism j they posted the lulls of the three candidates who are paying them over each other.
