HASTINGS, October 22. The Hawke’s Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s Jubilee Show was opened to-day in glorious weather. The entries constitute a record. The following cham pionships were awarded : English Leicester ram—Mr Douglas M’Lean. English Leicester ewe—Mr Douglas M'Lean. Hereford cow—Mr Ernest Short. Holstein Friesian bull—Mr W. I. Love lock. Ayrshire cow —Mr T. H. Colpman. Ayrshire bull—Mr T. H. Colpman. Shorthorn Bull—Mr Douglas M’Lean. Alderney and Jersey cow—Mr H. Ma>niven. Southdown ram—Messrs Nelson Bros. Southdown ewe—Messrs Nelson Bros. Lincoln ram, under 30 months—Mr J. Pern,’. Lincoln ram, over 30 months—Mr R. D. D. M’Lean. Shropshire ewe—Mr G. L. Marshall. Shropshire ram—Mr G. L. Marshall. Polled Angus bull—Mr A. S. G. Carlyon. Lincoln ewe—Mr W. Perry. Polled Angus heifer—Mr J. A. Macfarlane. Romney Marsh ewe—Mr A. V. Collins Hack—Mr R. Burnside. Draught mare—Mrs J. 1). Ormond’s Lady Glen. Harness horse—Mr Arthur Cliff’s Zanzibar. Champion Shield draught mare—Mr K. Short. Best piece of needlework in the show (Jubilee medal) —Mrs R. C. Macfarlane. October 23. The People’s Day of the Hawke’s Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s Jubilee Show was spoiled by heavy rain, which set in early this morning and continued throughout the day. The attendance, though large, was materially affected by the downpour. , The following additional championships were awarded : Collie—Mr C. L. Bridges (Wellington). Hack—Mr F. A. Price (From Qua Own Correspondent.^ NAPIER, October 22 Probably the most important transaction at the Jubilee Show to-day was the purchase by Mr Simpson, of Hunterville, jl Mr Douglas M‘Lean’s shorthorn bull Roan Cherry Oswald, 27, months, by Copper King (2265). The price paid was a very high one, running well into three figures
