VETERANS' ASSOCIATION.
WELLINGTON, October 21. The annual conference of the Veterans’ Association of Now Zealand was' opened to-day. The report stated that the Government had kept its promise and passed “ The Military Pensions Act, 1913.’’ All branches had done well except Napier. The total membership was 365. The deaths last year were 22. In response to a petition to the King asking for permission to wear the association’s badge on the left breast, the Governor advised that this privilege could not be granted, as it was contrary to custom and the regulations. A big gathering of veterans will take place at Hawera on November 6. The following officers were elected : Vice-president, Major H. A. Lomax; secretary and treasurer, Mr S. Stedolph; auditor. Lieutenant Humphries; members of Central Committee—Messrs H. Walton and F. ,W. Revell.
