Of those who did fail many made excellent passes in several of the subjects. A man had to obtain at least 33 per cent, in any one subject to pass, or an average of 50 per cent, over all the papers that i had to deal with. Police regulations and police and detective duties were h'ghly creditable to the men. All through the various subjects were dealt with exhaustively, showing that the .candidates had a good knowledge of the work, and of the police and detective duties and the regulations. A strong point,” added Mr Cullen, “is that the men had only six months to study the regulations. It is just about that time since the regulations were published.
