The auxiliary cutter Variance has returned from a two months’ sealing expedition around the West Coast Sounds (says the Southland Times). Slho reports having experienced roueh weather, and this was largely responsible for the poor return of skins for two months' sealing. The party succeeded in obtaining only 60 skins. The cutter Antelope has also returned with 60 skins, each worth, approximately, £l. The promoters of the venture are, therefore, somewhat disapi>ointed with their lack of fortune, and no profit can be recorded.
