TABLE TALK.
Monday. People seem just as keen as ever on tho " Rink,” and last Wednesday afternoon a number of friends joined together and bad a rinking party, ending with a pleasant afternoon tea at Brown’s rooms.
Several small bridge afternoons and evenings have taken place, and also some email afternoon teas. Mrs Marshall was a hostess at bridge on Friday evening, when ehe entertained a few friends, and a very pleasant evening was passed..
During the week Miss Mary Proctor (England) has been giving some very interesting lectures in tho Early Settlers’ Hall. She has been introduced to Dunedin by tho members of the Victoria League, several of whom have had the pleasure of making Miss Proctor’s acquaintance during her stay in this city. While Miss Proctor has been hero she has stayed at the Leviathan Hotel.
News has come to hand of the marriage of Mr George Ritchie, eldest eon of the late Mr J. M. Ritchie and Mrs Ritchie, Dunedin, to Miss Greta Mills, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs David Mills, Sydney. The .veddbig ceremony was solemnised at " St. Mark’s Church, Sydney, at half-past 2 on Thursday afternoon, the 21st nit., the Rev. Canon Flower performing the marriage ceremony. Mr and Mrs Stephens (Kelso) are at present visiting Dunedin. Mrs Arber, who has been living in Dunedin for some time, contemplates going north again shortly to take up her residence in the North Island. Mrs Du Croz left for the north last week, and is visiting in Oamaru. Miss Wilkins (Dunedin) is on a visit to Invercargill. Miss Chapman (Timarn) is staying fn Dunedin with friends. Miss Mabel Shand (Tiniaru) arrived from the north last Friday. Miss Kathleen Ulrich left on Tuesday for South Canterbury. Mrs R. Rhodes (BlueelifTs) was in town last week, and was the guest of Mrs Bullock, Rod; n. Mrs Find) ,md family left at the end of last week for Moeraki, where they arc spending the school holidays. Mrs Checseman and Miss Phyllis Cheeseman went north at tiic end of last week. Mrs Stock and Mrs M’Master aro the guests of Mrs Finch at Moeraki. Mr and Mrs Palmer returned to Dunedin last week after a very pleasant trip to the Old Country. Still .we are onjivring dry pavements and sunny skies, and, of course, while the weather is holding good, go’f flourishes. The links are anything but lit for championship scores, and we long for the day when the road to Otatara will be finished. Over there our golf ought to improve. The final in the Ladies’ Championship was played on Tuesday, in fine weather, Mrs J. J. Hudson scoring a rather easy victory from Mrs D. J. Gihuour. Mrs Hudson, being now in Dunedin, will probably give a good account of herself on the links there. The consolation match is m its final stage now. Miss V. M’Clure and Ronaldson being the two who will “swing’’ for the victory this week. Mrs D. I '* lllol,l ar, d Mrs T. M. Macdonald played off for Mrs Robert Gilmonr’s prize, having! tied the previous week, and the successful player was Mrs Macdonald.
The theatre was very sparsely filled— it seemed a mere handful of people—on Tuesday evening, when the Elhvood Trio gavo their only concert here, It was a real musical treat, and we can scarcely hope to hoar the great artists if attendances are so abnoinally poor when a first-class programme is given.

On Thursday evening Mr W. J. Ferguson’s orchestra, nearly 40 strong, and composed namlv of pupils gave a good concert, in Vr? \ T 1 r, tor i a Hall - which was quite full. Miss V, heeler and Mr S. Richards were the soloists, their songs being received with marked annlaiise.
On Friday morning Mrs George Moffett iravo n charming morning tea at her residence. North road, Gladstone, in honour of Miss TosswiH and Miss Bucham (Christchurch), who are Mrs Arthur Moffett’s guests at present. Mrs Moffett received her guests in th-e drawing’ room, which was fragrant Wl ™ primroses and daffodils, wearing a smart tussore silk frock, the large square, collar on the bodice being banded with, sreen-and-rod shot silk, and the vest was made < of tucked net.. It being a glorious morning, the refreshments were served on the balcony unstairs, the guests enjoying their tea and the sunshine together. ’ Some of those present were Mrs ' Arthur Moffett, Mrs T. Miss Bellq Pdchnr was bridesmaid, and wore a dainty silk-striped heliotrope voile, draped a la' mode, and carried a large bouquet of violets. She received a dainty wristlet watch frorfli the bridegroom. Mr F. Pilcher performed the duties of best man. The ceremony took nh>c© in the drawing room, whicn was maesedi with lovely spring flowers and in tb© dining room., where the wedding breakfast was served, the table was decorated with prin|* roses, in the ehape of a large bors-oahoe, glittering tin nailed net being intertwined among the flowers. 'Watson, with her children, hag gon© to Sumner for a, few weeks, to recruit after her recent illness. Mr and Mrs J. E. Watson have gone t* Queenstown, with their family, for a few weeks. . Mn F. Chisholm is in Christchurch, payin" visits there. Mrs J. T. Piain'left on Saturday toy Queenstown. Mrs B. F. Cuthberson has returned front a three mouths’ trip in the north.

Small parties seem to bo very much in von-uo just now, and many very jolly ones Lave been given in honour of Airs Hutchison, who is leaving for Central Otago very soon, and will bo very much missed from Oamaru. Mrs Hutchison has always taken a very active part in entertainments of all sorts, and been most generous in her hospitality to everyone. Parties have also been given/ for Mrs Burns, who is leaving for 'Wellington quite soon. On Saturday last Mrs M'Douall gave an afternoon tea, and evening before the Alisses Al Doiiall bad a very jolly party for several of their friends. Mrs Humphreys entertained a number of guests last Thursday night, and Miss Bussell had a party during the week. Mrs Lovell Nichols (North Island) is visiting Mr Jasper Nichols at present. Mrs du Croz is the guest of Aliss Alurdoch, at Bedcaetle Mrs Duncan /Christchurch) is the guest ol Mrs Babmgton, Thames street, at present.
Captain and Mrs Turnbull have gone to Dunedin tor some weeks; Mrs North haa gone with them.
