LORD GORELL. LONDON, April 24. The death is announced of Lord Gorell, aged 65 years. [Lord Gorell, formerly known as Sir John Gorell Barnes, was created a baron in 1909. Ho was the son of Henry Barnes, shipowner, Liverpool. A graduate of Cambridge University, he was called to the Bar in 1876; was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1838. Ho was made judge of probate, divorce, and Admiralty division of the High Court of Justice in 1892. Ho was president from 1905 to 1903.] SIR RICHARD WILLIAM SCOTT. OTTAWA. April 24. The death of Sir Richard William Scott is announced. [Sir Richard William Sontt, K.C., LL.D., was born at Pjescott, Canada, in 1825. He was elected member of Parliament for Ottawa in 1857, and remained a representative until 1863; member of Legislative Assembly for Ontario, 1867-73; Speaker, 1871; Commissioner of Crown Lands, 1872-3. Ho was appointed to the Senate in 1873; Secretary of State, 187378; and Loader of the Opposition in Senate, 1879-96.
