SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTIONS.
THE CITY AND SUBURBS. The annual meetings of householders in the various school districts in the city and surrounding boroughs passed off without any particular incident worthy of special mention. The attendance, as a rule, was fair, and in most cases, where they were willing to serve, the retiring committeemen were re-elected. At the Albany Street School meeting Mr Rundlo proposed that it was undesirable, to interfere by the enforcement of the Defence Act regulations with the holders of free places, but no one was prepared to second the motion. WEST TAIERI. There was a good nit tendance at the meeting of householders for the election of the committee of the West Talcri School. The following were declared elected: Messrs Win. M'Pheraon (chairman), Arthur Retrio (secretary and treasurer), .John M Leod, Donald Sutherland, David Cook- ' son, Joseph Mann, and Win. Bell. ST. LEONARDS. At the meeting of householders on the 28th the following were elected; —Messrs O. R. Gooch (cluiinuan), H. Miller (secretary). C. Hensley, H. Purvis, T. Thomson, and G. Buchanan. (From Cue Own Correspondent.) OAMARU, April 28. At the meeting of householders to-night committees were elected as follows: Oamaru North.—Messrs J. Mitchell, T. Jones, G. S. Jones. R. Rusbatch, S. Mollison, W. R. Meldrum, N. Meldrum, A. Stock, and R. G. Young. Oamaru Middle.--Messrs A. Riach, W. Pygall, J H. Grenfell. C. Chambers, H. Grocott, W. H. Westhal, and J. Ogilyic. Oamaru South. —A. Lucas, R. Main, J. Bee, A. Cross. J. Crombie, T. Hunter, S. B. Paterson, J. M’Quin, and L Dewar.
