KING ALFONSO’S ESCAPE
MADRID, April 15. Alegre has been thrice rejected for n.ilii tary service on the ground that he suf- | fered from epileptic fits. | King Alfonso, in describing the attack, i says:—“T saw the man coming, armed with a revolver, which'he fired. I rode at him, and he tried to seize the reins and fired again, the flash singeing my glove, while the ball grazed the horse. T then wheeled my horse, which knocked lie man ; over with its shoulder as a policeman ! sprang upon him. A third s.iot was fired i from the ground, and whistled overhead. MADRID, April 16. ' The French professor who was arrested | on the occasion of the attempt on King j Alfonso’s life being made has been rej leased. ! He alleges that the revolver with which I the shots were fired, belonged to a police--1 man, who has been arrested. He de-
dares that he is unable to explain how his revolver came to be in Alegre’s possession.
