EMPIRE EXHIBITION
SYDNEY, April 17
The Dominions Royal Commission had an interesting discussion to-day on the question of exhibitions. Mr Wunderlich (president) and Mr Beale (ex-president of the associated Chambers of Manufactures) strongly supported the holding of a British Empire, exhibition in London, but they emphatically declined to consider the question of an international exhibition.
Mr Wunderlich declared that the opinion of manufacturers was that an Empire exhibition of industries would provide hew outlets for Australian productions and manufactures and tend r. 11 ro.md to the advantage of Australian manufacturers. A big exhibition where sales could be made would advertise Australia where it was most needed and assist legitimate immigration by showing the resources and potentialities of Australia. Sir A. Bateman remarked that it had been stated that the British manufacturers were fed up with exhibitions. He expressed the opinion that they were unfavourable to the proposed Empire exhibition.
