TO BE RETURNED TO ROTO ROA. WELLINGTON, April 17. John Patton Miller, the ex-detective, concerning whose committal to Roto Roa Island in September last there, has been some agitati m and a suggestion for the reh aring of his case, was taken into police cu. tody to-day, to be returned to Roto Roa for not having complied with the terms of his probation. The condition of his release was that he should take out a prohibition order against himself for 12 months, and not be convicted of any breach of Older during the period. Miller states that he declined because he is not a drunkard, and was never charged or convicted for drunkenness, and because the application for rehearing tho charge of habitual drunkenness was based on the ground, among that he was a man of intemperate habits. On to the Minister he was warned thfct he muet return to the island or the license liberating him would bo revoked, and declining to do so the police were compelled to Lake action.
