Th ; re is a great dearth of boy and girl labour in Wanganui, and quite a number of industries are seriously affected. At a meeting of the technical college committee one employer said that some time ago his firm used to keep an employmentbook, and when a boy was required a selection from many names on the book was made. Now the reverse was the case, and in response to an advertisement recently put in the local papers there was only one applicant, and he was a “boy” 21 years of ago.
