The Hessian fly is doing considerable damage to barley and wheat in the Geraldine district (says tho Tiinaru Herald), even solid straw Tuscan, which lias escaped hitherto, is now suffering. A practical farmer estimates that whore the fly has appeared there will Ire an average loss of from five to six bushels an acre. In the earne district the turnip fly has been very active in its work of destruction during the past few week.
