THE LOYALTY ISLANDS

MELBOURNE, November 11

Mr Jacob Watriana, who claims the kingship of the Loyalty Islands, in an interview with the Federal Ministers stated that the islanders desired to place the group under the control of the Commonwealth. If the islands were not taken over by Australia they would soon be in possession of the Japanese. About 6000 Japanese, many of whom were soldiers and spies, were working in the nickel mines.

The Ministers promised that the Cabinet frould give consideration to the matter.
