SHIPWRECK RELIEF SOCIETY.

The quarterly meeting of the Executive Committee of the Shipwreck Relief Society was held on the sth instant in Mr E. S. Wilson’s board room; present—Messrs C. W. Chamberlain (chairman), W. A. Moore, D. E. Thcomin. Geo. Fenwick, G. B. Bullock. and F. 0. Bridgeman. The Collector of Customs. Westport, wrote stating that he had paid the sum of £1 la 4d, collected in the box at the Cape Foulwind lighthouse, into the society’s account. —To be acknowledged with thanks. H. R. Spence, lirveroargill, tendered his resignation as the society’s local agent on account of his leaving the district, and suggesting as his successor Mr W. J. Wratt.— The secretary stated that Mr Wnaitt had been written to and he had replied stating that ho would bo pleased to act as th© society’s representative at Invercargill. The Town Clerk, Christchurch, wrote acknowledging receipt of the society’s cheque for £5 for the relief of Mrs Avers, whoso husband was lost in the dredge Manchester. —Received.

The High Commissioner wrote enclosing a copy of a letter received from Messrs Ismay. Irnrie, and Co., thanking the society for its expression of sympathy in connection with the disaster to the s.s. Titanic. — Received. F. S. Shell .wrote tendering his resignation as the society’s Wellington representative. owing to ill-health, and stating that Mr W. E. Cocks would be glad to act in his stead.—Letter of thanks bo be sent to Mr Shell, and Mr Cocks to be asked to act in the meantime. IjO'tt-O'rß from tho jVlfiyor of Lyt-tciton acknowledging receipt of the money sent by the society for the relief of the relations of the crew of the dredge Manchester were received. The Chairman suggested tho advisability of appointing an advisory board in Wellington, and it was decided to write to Mr Allport (of tho Marine Department), Mr Kennedy (of the Union Steam Ship Company). and Mr Jones (of the' Huddart, Parker Company) with a view to its cstabMessrs G. B. Bullock, T. W. Whitson, the chairman and treasurer, were appointed a sub-committee for the current quarter. The bank book showed a credit balance of £56 18s. Accounts amounting to £l2 5s were passed for payment.
