WELLINGTON WING WHISPERS

Br Petbb P**. July 5.

Dear Pasquin,—Billy Korsand's American Ministrels have done exceedingly well at the Opera House, and will close down on (Sattuvdjay. The company will play some of the provincial towns before going south. Mr C. B. Westmacott, well-known throughout the Dominion, and who managed Nellie Stewart's firet eroat tour here in ''Sweet Nell of Old Drury," is managing the company for Portus and Talbot. Mr Westmacott has not been too well. Ho had to consult a doctor on his arrival from Auckland, and rheumatism and pleurisy was the pronouncement. The weather has been all against him, but despite this, Mr Westmacott is making a good recovery. Margaret Cooper is our next attraction. Mr A. W. Batiste., who was here with the " Besses 'o tli' Barn Band," is coming across to manage in J. and N. Tait's interests.

" Ben Hur " will follow, and as wo have not "had a " big " attraction for some time, things should bo well with the company.

The Wellington Amateur Dramatic Company has that clever comedy, "Jedbury, Junior " under rehearsal. Hanley, Marguerite, and IJanley, a trio of exceptionally strong persons, a.ro •an attraction at Fuller's Theatre Royal. Miss Beaumont Collins, with fine support, is putting- on tabloid dramas most efficiently, and earning much praise. " The Leaves of Memory," this week's sensation, is cleverly done. ''The Dandies," or. as vthey are known in Australia., " The Red Dandies," are in their sixth week at the Town Hall. They play another week here, and then leave for Auckland, where a month's season will bo played. There place here will be taken by " Tlie Green Dandies," now in Hobart. This company will open here on the 24th, and play until September 7, then going on to Auckland, the "Reds," moving down to Christchurch for a month. The "Greens" will follow on in Christchurch, and the " Reds " will return to Wellington. It is ciuite likely that one of these companies will play a season in Dunedin. "The Green Dandies," composed of Misses Elsie Rosslyn (soprano), Tessa Byrne (contralto), Florence Henderson (soubrette), Messrs Renn Millar (bass). George Ilorton (light comedian), Joseph Brennan (monologuist), Herbert Walton (character comedian), and William Soiers (pianist). Mr Edward Branscombe will manage tho "Greens." Mr Deo. D. Chateau remaining with the "Reds." Mr and Mrs T. R. Donovan (West's Pictures), who have been on holiday in Sydney and Melbourne, returned this week.
