POTTSVILLE (Penn.), May 8. During some strike disturbances the police fired on a mob of 3000 persons. Three men were killed and numbers injured, including several of the police. A woman onlooker received a bullet in the arm. The riot started when the colliery superintendent sought to take two strike breakers in an automobile to work. SAN DIEGO, May 8. The members of the Industrial Workers of the World, a socialistic order, are fomenting industrial disturbances along the Pacific coast. They clashed with the police, and armed citizens turned out when the riot "call was sounded. Many of the industrial workers were ,shot, and in the melee two policemen were killed and several injured. SCRANTON (Pennsylvania), May 10. The striking miners broke through the police cordon that surrounded the strikebreakers and injured many of the latter. They flung bricks aud used clubs, and in the fierce melee, lasting half an hour, several of the strikers were fatally injured. Finally the troops came to the policemen's rescue. Women took a prominent part in the attacks on the police, and six of them were arrested. The disturbances were chiefly fomented by the foreign element.
