ALLEGED TIMBER THEFTS.

SERIOUS CHARGES AGAINST TWO A BROTHERS. In the City Police Court on the Blh inst., before Mr J. R. Bartholomew, S.M., James Alexander Greig and Peter Henry, Grcig were charged with the theft, on or about April 25, 1912, at Dunedin, of a quantity of saiwn timber, valued at £5, tho. property of Hogg and Co., timber merchants. Chief Detective Herbert conducted the proseoution, Mir Irwin appearing for James Greig, and Mr J. B. Callan, jun. for Peter Greig. After hearing evidence, Both accused reserved their defence and were committed for trial, bail being fixed in respect of accused James Greig in tho sum of £IOO, with two surefeies of £SO each. Peter Henry Greig was further charged with the theft, between January 1 and April 27, of sawn timber to line value of £B4 178 Bd, the property of Messrs Hogg and Co. (Ltd.). , . . Accused reserved his defence, and wa# committed for trial, bail being allowed, accused in his own recognisance of £2OO with two sureties of £IOO each.
