PALMERSTON NORTH NOTES.
• • May 10. Dear "Pasquin,"—Pictures and vaudeville occupied the Opera House during last week. The vaudeville turns being Captain Karlos and his trick pony Fritz, the Karlos (three), clever exponents on the silver wire, Stanley Williams, globe runner, Bonita Krusardo and her performing dogs, Joe Gardner and Flossie Le Mar, ju-jitsu experts. Splendid busnness was done, and it is the intention of the management to secure fresh artists from time to time, and to-night an entirely new programme of pictures and variety turns will be presented. The Von Arx-Norwood combination completed a season here last night, which, as far as Palmerston is concerned, broke all previous records.. The hypnotic acts created roar s of laughter, and the subjects were endowed with all sorts of imaginary talents. Miss Norwood in thought transference feats nightly mystified all those who tested her. The illusions were very well carried out and Von Arx showed that he is rather a capable exponent in this particular art. George Murphy, a juggler with some clever patter, added his quota to a good all-round bill of fare. Since the company were last in this town a tour of Wanganui and the smalls of Taranaki and Hawke's Bay took place, when splendid business was done. The Opera House Picture Company will have the use of' the Opera House during Winter Show in June. The Marlow Dramatic Company also applied for the dates, but the council decided, to give the local enterprise preference. Fresh artists at the Opera House to-night are to be Charles Kenner, coloured comedian and dancer, Carlson and Selvane, patter musicians, Livingstone Sisters, song and dance duo, and Vernon Mac, boy comedian. In addition to these people, a well assorted variety of films will be screened.
