OTAGO EARLY SETTLERS' ASSOCIATION.
Tlie monthly committee meeting of the Otago Early Settlers' - Association was held in the boamd room of the Otago Early Settlers' Hall on Sunday afternoon; present -—Messrs John Duthie (in the chair), W. Crawley, C. Duke, W. H. Ferems, John Hope, A. F. M'Donnell, Donald Reid, jun., T. SomerviMe, Dr Fulton, Mrs C. H. Hav ward, Mrs M. Barnes, Mr G. C. Proudfoot Oiori. treasurer, and J. Wood (secretary). The balance sheet for the year ended April 30, and a draft copy of the annual report, were approved, and the date of the annual business meeting wae fixed for Monday. Totes of thanks were passed for the following presentation.; made to the museum or portrait gallery:—To Rev. W. Wright, Oainaru, for old family Bible and Prayer Book combined, printed in 1715, used on several occasions by the late Dr Stuart as a pulpit Bible when visiting the Oimani district in the early sixties, when his pulpit •was improvised out of bales of wool; to Mr R. Gleridining for enlarged framed portrait of the late Mr J. T. Mackerras; to Mr W. Littlejohn, Waiwera South, for framed enlarged portraits of his late mother Mis Walter Littlejohn, hie lat e wife, and himself, passengers by the Robert Henderson, 1860. Flight names were added to the roll of the association. An invitation was received from the secretary of the Gabriel Gully Association to men;bore of the Otago Early Settlers' Association to be present on the Gabriel's Gully pioneers' night, on Wednesday of Winter Show week, June 5. The following names of early settlers who had passed away were recorded:—Robert Browa (83), Mataura, 1863; Janet Alexins. Dow, Gala, 1864> Mrs Jane Rose (75). arrived 1863; Mrs Elizabeth Muir (92), Gala, 1860; Gavin Murdoch, Kincr of Italy, 1864; Mn» Robert Studholme (64), first white woman to settle at the head of Lake Wanaka, 1864: Thomas Heffeman (73), from Victoria, 1852; John Charles Eyre (82). Boai.crges, 1862; Frederick Hanson, arrived 1864; Mrs Walter P rioter (nee Apollina Johnston), Stormcloud, 1861; Mr James Shepherd, Gloucester, 1858.
