VALEDICTORY SOCIAL.
On Friday evening a very large gathering of the residents assembled at the Lower Harbour School to bid farewell to Miss S. T. Morris, who has been mistress in the school for the past three and a-half years, and who has recently received an appointment in the Sawyers' Bay School. During l the early part of the evening- songs and recitations were given by some of the local talent and uierc very much appreciated by the audiance. At the interval Mr Wadsworth, chairman of the school committee, on behalf of th* residents and children, presented Miss Morris with a handsome gold brooch, and at the same time spoke of the highly efficient work done by her in the school and the social los3 her removal from the district would be to the residents, as she had always taken a keen interest in local amusements. Mr Fullerton, on behalf of Miss Morris, suitably responded. After supper had been handed round, tho room wa« cleared, and dancing was indulged in by tho young folk for a few hours.
