I It is reported (says the Marlborough Express) that though the season is a close one, the pigeons in the Sounds and adjacent districts are being indiscriminately slaughtered. The pigeons are said to be numerous and to be in excellent condition. The wholesale manner in which the birds are being killed is very reprehensible, and no doubt the illicit conduct i will be severely visited if brought home to i the delinquents. HOMING PIGEON RACE. The Dunedin Homing Pigeon Club flew off the second of its young-bird races on Saturday Irom Gore, an airline distance of 77 miles. The race resulted as follows: Mr J. doff stake under good conditions. In the final Smith and Iles's (Christehureh) Wild Knight and Gold Seal divided. In a supplementary stake W. Connolly's (Oamaru) Jeweller beat Smith and Iles's S'tar of Erin.
