OTTAWA, April 24. The Minister of Trade announces that the negotiations in regard to reciprocity with Australia are progressing satisfactorily. It is expected that Australia will grant Canada preference on lumber by discriminating against United States lumber. LONDON, April 26. The Times Toronto correspondent states that Mr Foster (the Canadian Minister of Trade) hopes that the treaty with Australia giving preference to the extent of 55j per cent, will be ready for submission to Parliament simultaneously with the West Indian preference proposals.
