April 27.—At, ,the last meeting- of the | Borough Council Cr Manchester said that as this was the last meeting of the council j at which the Mayor (Mr Norton Francis) would bo present, ho thought it would be suitable to express their appreciation of tho Mayor’s work for the borough during the last four years. He hoped the Mayor would have a good' trip to the Old Country and return with health and vigour. The fortnight meetings and the monthly statements had been of benefit not only to the council but to the public in supplying information.
