DISSENSION IN AUCKLAND. AUCKLAND, April 26. The United Labour party held what was termed a ratification meeting to-night, and the following motion was carried:—‘‘That this public meeting of citizens of Auckland hereby ratifies the work of the Easter Unity Conference held at Wellington, which conference we recognise as being the most representative gathering of labour and progressive people of New Zealand which has ever been held, and it pledges itself to render loyal support to the new organisation.” April 27. There waa a remarkable scene towards the end of a meeting held in the Town Hall to organise a branch of the United Labour party. Professor Mills, who was loudly cheered on rising, was subsequently subjected to a deal of interruption, and he eventually requested the removol of a man who persisted in making interjections. A policeman’s services were requisitioned, and the man left the ha 11... In response to a call for all Socialists to leave the meeting 40 or 50 walked out. Professor Mills said that for too long in Auckland and other centres a small crowd of men who liad the capacity to create disorder and not to create anything else had been permitted to hold the stage. The present disturbance was the death rattle of a discredited class. There were in the Dominion 10,000 working men who stood for Labour, and who had no sympathy with the disturbing element. He asked for their help. They had listened to the misrepresentation of Labour long enough.
