DUNEDIN HOSPITAL GUILD.

Tho following is a summary of the twentieth annual report of tilio Dunedin Hospital Guild Committee:— This year tho number on the list of eul>scribcis has decreased. In 1909 the number was 169 —tho highest yet reached—but every year since the member-shin has decreased and now is has fallen to 135. Tho need of subscribers is as great—indeed it may be said to be greater—than ever. Year by year the Hospital grows larger and accommodates more patients, and for tho benefit of these an ample supply of warm, comfortable garments is necessary, and all those members who really have tho interests of the sick and needy at heart are asked to try this year and increase tho membership again by every means in their power. Should the present decrease continue, the amount of good now done by tho guild would be curtailed, for tho purchase of the materials is a heavy item in tho expenditure, and even now the cost of material alone —to say nothing of the other working expenses —is not covered by tho subscriptions received. That the work done and sent to the Hospital is much appreciated and valued is well known, and during the past year letters of thanks were received from the Matron and the Secretary to the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, who both express much gratitude for the help thus given. _ The articles made and sent to the Hospital numbered 223. In addition tho committee have to thank a well-wisher of the guild, who made and presented eight slmwls for the use of tho patients. Such gifts are most gratify-

ing, proving as they do the interest taken in the work done by th© guild. The members retiring from th© committee this year ar© Meedames Haynes, Phillips, and Ramsay. Three ladies have to be chosen to fill the vacancies thus caused.
