GREEN ISLAND BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of tho Green Island Borough Council was held on Monday, Ist inst., and was attended by tho Mayor (Mr John Lindsay), Crs Watters, Wilson, Wynn, Recvo, Love, Price, Christie, Smellio, and Miller. Tho Green Island Brass Band wrote thanking the council for tho donation of the proceeds of the recent concert. Tho Under-secretary of Internal Affairs wrote with reference to tho merging ol Sunnyvale Extension into the borough.— Received. Messrs Duncan and Mae Gregor wroto regarding an improvement to the road leading to Armstrong's orchard. —It was decided that the council could not undertake to do anything in the meantime. Tho Christchurch City Council wrote regarding tho extension of councillors' terms to three years, instead of two years as at present. —Received. The District Engineer of Railways wrote acknowledging receipt of a petition for a level crossing from Neil street, leading to the south end of tho Green Island Station platform. Captain Thorns. Defence Department, wroto as to the terms which the hall could bo rented for tho uso of tho Territorials.—Referred to the Hall Com mitteo to arrange. 'l'ln; Works Committee reported that most of the work authorised at la.-t meeting had been done or was in a forward stslo*. It also advised the need of other works Wi'S undertaken during tha mcanti*. AjZojAsd. The receipts during tha moaife were £lO6 IBs lid, and ac-e«.-«>ts amounting to £153 Is 10J were for payment, tlius leaving tho bank overdraft at £414 Is Bd. Xe.ti'.-e of motion was given to strike a general rate of Is Td in tho pound and a water rate of tho same amount as last year. It was stated that tho total cost of the hall and renovatioiis v<ouki aineSS} to about £SOO.
