QUEENSTOWN REGATTA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) QUEENSTOWN, April 6. Iho annual Queenstoiwn Regatta was held to-day on Lake Wakatipu under ideal weather conditions, a largo number of spectators being present. The rowing throughout was of an interesting nature, and was especially noticeable for the lino showing of the Sumner representatives (Detheir and Champ), and the win ot the Invercargill Club in the Senior Fours. For this race Ota-o did not have a crew forward. It was anticipated that Awarua would outclass both the Invercargill and the Invercargill Railway, but the unexpected happened, and (he Bluff men failed to see the distance out. The two others fought out (he best finish ever known in the history of the regatta, tho Invercargill crew geting tho verdict, by a very narrow margin. The following are tho lesults:— MAIDEN DOUBLE SCULLS. Ono mile. First prize. £3; second, £L—North End Boating Club (Purvis and Hogg), I; Invercargill Rowing Club (Barrio and Fistwood), 2. The D.A.B.C. crew (Hodgson and Watts) also started. Won by a length and a-half. YOUTHS" FOUR OARED RACK. Ono mile. First prize, £4 ; second, £l.—lnvercargill Railway (F. Whittaker, H. Folley, F. Horrobin, and S. Donne) 1; Invercargill (R. Barrio, E. Stout, L. Smith, N. Fallow), 2, Awarua also started. Won bv two lengths. JUNIOR DOUBLE SCULLS. One mile. First prize, £4; second, £1. —Sumner (Detheir and Champ), 1; Invercargill Railways No. 1 (M'Killop and Glcnnie), 2; Otago (Smeaton and Caffin), 3 The D.A.8.C., Invorcargill Railway No. 2, and North End also started. Won by two lengths, Otago just heading North End for third place. MAIDEN FOUR OARED FACE. Ono mile.—lnvercargill Railway (D. Andrews, R. Forrester. E. Kelly, L. Padgot), 1; Riverton (R. E. Stevens, T. R. Robertson. 11. Boniface, F. Beer), 2. Awarua also started. Won bv a length and a-half. SENIOR DOUBLE SCULLS. One mile. First prize, £5; second, £2. —Sumner (De-thk-r and Champ), 1; Otago (Kerr and Stevens), 2. Invercargill Railway also started. Won by 'half a length. JUNIOR FOUR OARED RACE. One mile. First prize, £6; second, £2. —Invercargill Railway No. 1 (Cockcroft, F. M'Kiliop, A. C. M'Killop, Thomson), 1; Invercargill Railway No. 2 (Whitaker, Folley, Horrobin, Donne), 2. Won easily by about, a couple of lengths. MAIDEN PAIRS. One mile. First prize, £3; second. £1. —Sumner (Detheir and Champ), 1; Invercargill Railway No 2 (A. Glennie and Whitaker), 2: North End (Purvis and Hogg), 3. Invercargill Railway No. 1. Riverton, and D.A.B.C. crews also started. Won by a length and alialf. North End a length away. LAKE WAKATIPU SENIOR FOURS CHAMPIONSHIP. One mile and a-half.— Invercargill (D. Ritchie stroke, J. Ritohio, D. Rao and W. Rodio bow), 1; Invercargill Railway (Cookroft, F, M'Killop, Barry, and Thomson). The other crew which startled (Awarua) failed to see the distance out. A great finish for first place, tho Invercargill men getting the verdict, bv tho length of the canvas. Time, 9min 2sec. .JUNIOR PAIRS. One mile. First, prize, £4; second, £l. Invercargill Railway No. 1 (Cockroft and F. M'killop), 1; Invercargill Railway No. 2 (Padiret and Watts) and Otago Rowing Club (Smeaton and Caffin) were the other starters. Won handily by three lengths, Otago a length further back. SENIOR PAIRS. One mile. Inst prize £5; second. £2.—lnvercargill (D. and J. Ritchie), 1; Invercargill Railway (A C. Cockcroft and M'Killop), ?.\ \warua (G. West and B. Johnston), 3. Otago (J- Kerr and A. E. Stevens) also stalled. Won by a length and a-quarter.
