LIVINGSTONE.

April B.—The weather of late I'.ns been very imsatisfactory. However, fair headway is being nw-Je with harvesting operations throughout the district, and some very fine crops are to bo seen. The cereal crops also look very promising ! Social.—There have been quite a number of social evenings here lately. The Tennis Club gave an afternoon tea., and a social jin the hall at night. The day was beauti- | fully fine, and there was a large assembly. | Games of all serfs were indulged in, and 1 a very enjoyable time was spent, j Harvest Home.—The Salvation Army harvest home and sale of produce was held hero a short time ago. There was a largo amount of produce to be sold, and keen interest was taken in the rale. Songs and recitations were rendered, during the evening, and Brigadier i Jago conducted the proceedings. The affair ' was a success from every point of view. | "Weddings.—On April 3 Mr Barnes and j Miss Somerville, two well-known and respected residents of Tdvingstone, were joined * in the holy bonds of matrimony. The ceremany took place at the Presbyterian Church, JJuntroon, in the presence of a large number * °f friends. The Rev. Mr Hay officiated. In , the evening a dance was held in the LivingI stone Hall, to which a very large number of people were invited by the bride’s parents ; The grand march was led off by the bride and bridegroom, followed by fully 50 couples. ! Speeches were delivered during the evening by Mr Somerville, (father of the bride), Mr Ba.rnes (bridegroom), Mr Bedford, and Mr Christian. Mr Thorpe acted as master of ceremonies, and acted his part creditably. The music was supplied by Mr J. Paterson (violin) and Miss Beck (piano). A most , sumptuous supper, provided by the bost j and hostess, left nothing to be desired. Altogether the gathering was one of the most successful that has been held here for some * considerable time. Mr and Mrs Barnes intend talcing up their residence at MaereI wher.ua. May they have a happy and prosperous future.
