GORE, April 2.A request for an increase of wages f.rom 8s to 9s being refused by Uic Eoroiigh Council, nine men employed on drainage work " downed tools " this morning. FARMERS AND STRIKERS. AUCKLAND. April 2. The Bombay Branch of the Farmers' Union, in reply to a question as to;Jiow many men would be available to work cargo at Auckland in the event of a, strike, resolved to protest against the action of the executive in inviting farmers to become " blacklegs.
