Monday Evening. During last week several small tea parties, bridge evenings, and luncheons were given lor Miss S. Haggitt, Miss Maud Sise. and Miss Blundell, whoso marriages take place early in April. On Tuesday Miss Kathleen M'Lean entertained a number of friends at Hazelwood at a girls' luncheon party, the guest of the day being Miss Maud Sise. The table was most artistically arranged with vases of white flowers.

Oti Friday afternoon a delightful tea party was given by Mrs Stanley Batcbelor at her residence, Lmdon street, in honour of Miss Maud Sise. On Wednesday St. Luke's Church was crowded to witness a very pretty wedding, the contracting parties being Miss Alice Hutchison and Mr R. Irvine. The Rev. J. D. Russell was the officiating clergyman, while Mr Burry presided at the organ. The church was prettily decorated for the occasion with pink and white festoons, while the guests' seats bad each a distinguishing pink and white bouquet. The bride, who was given away by her father, Mr T. Hutchison. S.M., looked charming in a robe of duchess satin, trimmed with hand-made embroidery and Honiton lace. The semi-court train was beautifully trimmed with sprays of silk and' silver roses, and she wore a handsome Venetian point lacs veil (lent by her aunt, Mrs We3t) over a Juliet cap, with the customary orange blossoms, and carried a pretty bouquet of carnations and roses. The bride was accompanied by five bridesmaids', who looked very becoming in dainty pink marquisette radium over satin frocks, with tunic and fichus edged with fringe. During the afternoon Miss Ross was presented with a silver tea service from the staff and pupils. The Marlborough Tennis Championship and Handicap Matches were finished last week. The garden party given by his Excellency the Governor and Lady Islington hist Thursday afternoon was attended by a large number of guests. The weather, contrary to all expectation, turned out tine, and in consequence there were a number of pretty frocks worn. Although only a temporary residence, Government House is looking nicer and smarter than has been the case for many vears. Ladv Islington has. of course, remarkably good taste, and the furnishings throughout the house arc both elegant and artful" in their simplicity.
