AUCKLAND EXHIBITION.

PRELIMIN A R ■'. ANGEMENTS. At a meeting of the Executive Exhibition Committee Mr George Elliott was unanimously elected president, and Mr R. Holmes secretary. The date of opening was fixed for December 1, 1913, and the period of the Exhibition at three months, to be extended if found advisable. The following officials were elected : —Patron, his Excellency the Governor; vice-presi-dent, Mr 13. Buttle: honorary vice-presi-dents—Bishop Crossley, Bishop Cleary, Sir John Logan Campbell, the Hon. S. Thome George, M.L.C.. Mr A. Myers, M.P., Mr C. J. Parr, Mr J. H. Gunson, Messrs H. BTett, A. Chirk, T. Finlavson, J, C. Macky, and J. H. Upton. The President said it would r»e advisable to ask Parliament for a cash errant of £2OOO towards the funds of the Exhibition. Previous exhibitions had been liberally subsidised, and he had little doubt that a useful donation would be made in this instance. Fifteen lists were distributed among the members of the committee to be taken round the city for the purpose of soliciting guarantees. It was suggested that guarantees of £IOO should be asked for. It was decided to fix the amounts to be guaranteed by individuals at_ from £SO to £IOO. The question of the disposition of any surplus was dealt with at the previous meeting of the committee, when it was decided that any profit should be nsed for the improvement of the Outer Domain or for such other purpose as might be determined upon. The president stated that he had been stronglv advised to have the Durpose of the funds definitely fixed, and

he moved that the previous resolution should be rescinded, and that any surplus from the Exhibition should be devoted solely to the improvement of the Outer Domain. If the surplus was large, and any specially desirable object was found, a diversion could be made. This course was adopted unanimously.
