LATE KING EDWARD.
j PREPARATION OF MEMORIAL. WELLINGTON, February 1. His Excellency the Governor has received a letter from Colonel Sir James Gildea, enclosing one addressed to the press, as follows : " London, November 30. " May I ask for space in your columns to enable me to state that, by desire of j her Majesty Queen Alexandra, I have 1 undertaken to collect' particulars for publication in due course of all memorials of whatever description at Home, in the colonies, and abroad, to his late Majesty King Edward. I shall be obliged, therefore, if those connected with the furtherlance' of such memorials will, as they are completed, kindly communicate with me, when I shall be glad to send particulars of the information required." As Colonel Giidea points out, a general application like this usually produces very, little result, as each leaves it to someone else to reply. A request is therefore made to all local bodies having memorials to the late King to forward information on the subject to Mr A. Guise, private secretary to his Excellency.
