Mr James P. Patterson was fined fSO at Omagh with a recommendation that it be reduced to £l2 10s, for having carried on the business of a pawnbroker without a license. Mr Whitfield, the Supervisor of Inland Revenue, said that in one case the defendant charged over 500 per cent., and in two others over 1000 per cent, on the articles pawned. Among the nations of Europe Turkey Is the only ono which flies no Red Cross in time of war. Though a party to the (Geneva Convention, Turkey has steadfastly refused to use tho embleirjv of that Convention, tho 'J reek Cross, to protect its eick and wound.ej in time of war. In place of tho cross th-j Turkish Army Medical Corps makes use of a red crescent on a white cicund.
