DRAINAGE BOARD ELECTIONS.
RETIRING MEMBERS RETURNED,
The election to fill the three positions rendered vacant on the Dunedin Drainage Board by the retirement by rotation of Messrs Marlow, M'Farlano, and Dr Fulton was held on the 17th, but did not create much interest, only 2233 voting out of the 25,768 on the roll. The Garrison Hall was the main polling booth, there were in addition 13 others, from which the returns came in promptly, the announcement of the result being marie by the returning officer (Mr G. Esther) about an hour and a-quar-ter after the poll closed. The candidates were: William Thomas M'Farlane, John Edward MacManus, James J. Marlow. William Farquharson, John Henry Hancock, Robert Valpy Fulton, and John Carroll. The voting resulted in the return of the three gentlemen retiring, the voting being as follows; Fulton 1295 Marlow 1285 M'Farlane 1030 Farquharson 657 Hancock 647 MacManus 521 Carroll 443
