CHRISTCHURCH, January 22. The Christchurch Band Contest, held under the auspices of the South Island Bands’ Association, was opened in the Olympia Rink to-day. Results ; B Flat BarS i<>; gold medal and silver medal.—T. j ( uyttelton Marine), 85 points, 1; C. (vVoolston), 80 points, 2. T. Ca.. (Hibernian, Invercargill), 70; and Williams (Mornington), 00. also competed.
E Flat Bass. —W. P. Poughlan (Kaikorai), 85 points, 1; T. Lawrence (Wellington Garriecn)j 80 points, 2. Other competitors were : R. Wilson (Wooleton) 75, T. Pheloung (Oamaru Regimental) 73, A.
