FANNING INLAND SOLD.
AUCKLAND, January 17. Mr Henry, the oil export, says that Fanning Island has boon sold by Father Ron (dor to a well-known British naval shipbuilding firm, with the approval of tho Government. The Lagoon ia to ho converted into a deep-water -harbour, with a good anchors (jo, and will bo used as a naval coaling station. Father Rougier is now bound to England to complete negotiations.
Weasels a-xo reported to bo playing liavoo in the poultry yards in tho Pahiatua district.
