SHEEP DOG NOTES.
The champion working collie, Sweep, a photo of which appears in this issue, is a dog with a unique trial record. His winnings in 1911 are not yet to hand, but up to the end of 1910 lie had competed at 28 trials, And had been placed 24 times. His pedigree approared recently in this column, but for convenience may be repeated. Ho was sired by. , Ramshopo Sweep, a son of Old Hemp, and his dam was Trim (full sister of Border Boss). Trim was by Tommy, out of Ancrum Jed, and Jed was by Old Kep.- Tommy was by Tweed of Roxburgh, out of a duughter of Old Hemp, and Tweed was by a son of Old Hemp. The likeness •of Sweep to Old Hemp can bo accounted for by his descent on both sides from the old champion. As showing the*value now placed on high-class workers at Home, it may bo mentioned that Mr I. Lilico offered |SO for Sweep, but his owner refused to sell.
