HASTINGS, January 17. A meeting of the Hastings branch of the New Zealand Labour party was addressed last night by Mr Arthur Witty. At the conclusion a resolution, was passed urging the adoption of proportional representation, and an immediate reduction in the cost of living by substantially reducing railway freights and Customs duties on necessaries, and taxing land values instead.
