BERLIN, January 16,

An explosion of a blast furnace at Uinsburg killed eight and injured four other persons.

January 17,

The explosion is attributed to portion of the molten iron ore becoming set in the upper portion of the furnace and forming a vacuum sufficient to buret the furnace.

Eight people were instantly engulfed in a torrent of metal. Others are missing, and it is believed that they are beneath the ruins of the furnace.
