ODDFELLOWSHIP.
MANCHESTER UNITY. The Loyal Pride of Kaitangata Lodge had a splendid gathering on Tnursdav, December 28, this being tlio half-yearly summoned meeting. A considerable amount of routine business was transacted, including the initiation of five candidates, making a total of 23 for the half-year. The election of officers to fill the various chairs for the ensuing term was productive of some keen contests, as many as nine applicants going to the poll on one occasion, and never loss than five offering to fill anyone of the remaining positions. The closeness of the voting caused great excitement. The following wore-selected :—N.G., Bro. A. Middlernass; V.G., Bro. .1. H. Terry; E.S., Bro. M. J. Morrisson : Warden, Bro. S. Wilson; Guardian, Bro. J. Ilatcliffe; Auditor, P.G. Bro. E. P. Lavery (reelected). Correspondence was received from the P.C.S. notifying that P.G. Bro. Thos. Middlernass had been appointed Deputy Lecture Master for South Otrgo. The high esteem in which Bro. Middlernass is held was plainly made manifest by the outburst of hearty cheering which greeted the reading of the letter. P.G. Bro. Corstono (Milton), Bro. Blackburn (IL and II.), and Bro. Coulter (Pukekohe, Auckland district), responded on behalf of their lodges to the customary toast.
The half-yearly meeting of the Loyal M'aniototo Bodge was hoid on Tuesday, 2nd inst. P.G. Bro. Smith occupied the chair, and the attendance of members was very good. After the routine business had boon dealt with, the lodge proceeded to install the newly-elected officers: —N.G., Bro. T. Forrester; V.G., Bro. J. Millar; E.S., Bro. 11. J. Screen ; Warden, Bro. A. MTvay; Guardian, Bro. J. E. Kearney; R.S., N.G., P.G.. Bro. A. Smith; L.S., Bro. J. Mulholland ; R. and L. Supporters to the V.G., Bros. Baker and Symes; P.G. Bro. Binder was appointed Lecture Master, and Bro. M. M'Konc holds the office of Conductor. The installation Ceremony was ably controlled by P.G. Bro. Binder. A presentation of an M.U. pendant was made to P.G. Bro. A. Smith, in recognition of the many and valuable services rendered by him to the lodge and its members since its inception, he being the fi:rst N.G. P.G. Bro. Binder made the presentation, after which the recipient suitably responded.
