Otago Caledonian Society’s New Year Sports at Dunedin.
The cloud-burst on Mount Cargill on the afternoon of December 24, 1911, will long be remembered by the residents of Leith Valley. The disastrous effects of the huge volume of water which poured into the valley are shown in the above pictures; innumerable large boulders and debris being carried down from the higher levels end deposited on private property.
