ASCRIPTION.

- LEST WE FORGET. 1911-1912.

In the dark diavs and the chill days. Days of torrid heat, nights of beating rain, Through all the perilous and ill days, Where the whirlwind shakos the forest and

the lightning smites the groin, And the heart is struck to atone, How excellent art Thou, Q Lord, upon Thy „ mighty Throne.

In the dull days, waste with sorrow. Though the cup bo empty and bitterness the bread', Thy love is heralding fair' morrow. Thy promises proclaim a feast, a richer banquet spread. Though weeping drown cur mirth. How excellent, O glorious Lord, Thy name in all the earth.

When there races rapid torrent, And lawlessness a burdened country sweeps, When sweet dlays become abhorrent. And ridicule is lavished' on those who dare the steeps. When hidden is Thy face, How excellent, O Lord, our Lord, Thy vengeance ahd Thy grace. In the glad days, in the sad days, Days of fullest joy or days of blinding pain, Still before us run the bright ways.. Where the sunlight and the threshing have matured the perfect grain By the Eternal sown; O Lord, how excellent art Tiiou upon Thy righteous Throne. Past the shroud days, when in proud days Earth awake, and thrilling with the splendour of her song. Past her cloud phase, shouts in loud praise. Remember, ye triumphant ones, to Whom the notes belong. And with glad hearts acclaim. How excellent in all the earth, O Lord, Thy jyondrous name. —Joyce Jocelyn.
