A nice point in consciences has been revealed by an anonymous correspondent, •who has' forwarded to the Treasurer of Victoria postal notes to cover any possible shortage in the payment of a probate duty.. , , A very ingenious method of preserving strawberries from slugs and birds has been devised by a lady resident at Ilaprua, •writes the oorresnondent of the Pahiatua Herald. She has placed the bunches of fruit in a preserving jar laid down on the proupd beside each plant. The artificial heat brings on the berries much faster than without the appliance.
