WESTRALIAN POLITICS.

PERTH, December 14,

The Treasurer, in his Financial 'Statement, says that the dry season in the eastern agricultural districts had necessitated extra expenditure for water supply. This had prevented the Government from collecting its conditional purchase rents, amounting to £22,000. The revenue for the past year was £3,850,440, and the expenditure £3,734,000. After wiping out the deficit with which the year opened, a balance of £13,399 remained. The estimate for next year showed a deficit of £104,102. It was intended to introduce a graduated land tax and an income tax.
